He emphasized the crucial role of youth innovation and entrepreneurship in driving Kenya’s economic growth and stability, underscoring that empowering young people is essential for the nation’s progress.
The CEIL Summit, organized by the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KENIA) and held in Mombasa County, is centered on the theme “Youth, Jobs, and Wealth Creation through Innovation and Entrepreneurship.” It brings together together top innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to explore the future of commercialization and entrepreneurship.
In his address, PS Maalim acknowledged the significant contributions of the summit organizers and stakeholders to the nation’s economy. He stated, “Your work as the team that puts this summit together and the leadership makes a major contribution to our economy,” highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting youth employment and national security.
Maalim reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the youth sector, describing it as a key engine for economic development. “This is a sector we want to be associated with, as well as to ensure that there is sufficient investment to harness its dividends,” he said, aligning his remarks with the summit’s spirit of youth, jobs, and wealth creation.
In conclusion, the PS reaffirmed the role of the Ministry as the torchbearer for youth issues, highlighting how the focus on youth and innovation aligns with the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, championed by His Excellency the President. “Our role is to empower young people with the tools to make the most of their lives, to remove barriers, and to create conditions where no one is left behind,” he affirmed.
