Kenya Youth Employment Opportunities Project (KYEOP)

The State Department for Youth Affairs, and the Arts is implementing a five-year Kenya Youth Employment & Opportunities Project (KYEOP) funded with USD150 million (Kshs.15 Billion) credit from the International Development Association/World Bank. The project is focused on increasing employment and earning opportunities among targeted Youth in Kenya.

KYEOP, which began in 2016 and will run till 2021, targets youth between 18- 29 years with form 4 education level and below. The project is implemented in 17 Counties: Mombasa, Kilifi, Nairobi, Nakuru, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Mandera, Turkana, Wajir, Bungoma, Kakamega, Kwale, Kisumu, Kisii, Machakos, Kitui and Migori Counties. 

The project has four major components which are; 

  • Improving Youth Employability, 
  • Support for Job Creation, 
  • Improving Labour Market Information Systems and, 
  • Strengthening Youth Policy Development.
