INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY, NAROK COUNTY 2024

Narok County successfully concluded a week-long series of events celebrating International Youth Day 2024, culminating in a grand ceremony at William Ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok North Sub-County. The event featured a vibrant showcase of youth talent through creative arts, including song, music, dance, and poetry performances.
The Deputy Governor, Hon. Tamalinye Koech, honored the occasion with his presence and reaffirmed the County Government’s unwavering commitment to addressing critical youth-related issues. He emphasized ongoing initiatives aligned with the youth policy timelines, underscoring efforts to enhance youth employment opportunities, facilitate access to tenders through the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) program, and increase the availability of internship programs for young people.
The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Youth Affairs, Mr. Robert Simotwo, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Narok Youth Technical Working Group, partners, and various county departments for their collaborative efforts in ensuring the success of Youth Week 2024.
The event received substantial support from numerous partners, including the National Youth Council, National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), Narok Youth Alliance, UNFPA, Compassion Narok, Ministry of Health Narok, Pathways Policy Institute, State Department for Youth Affairs and the Creative Economy, Equity Afya, MAA Creative, Amref Health Kenya, and the Red Cross, among others.
In attendance were Chief Officers Pesi Ntari (Sports), Lucy Kashu (Preventive and Promotive Health Services), Queens Kimorgo (Livestock Production), and Willy Loigero (Environment). They were joined by Director of Youth Mr. Eric Tarakuai, Sports Coordinator Mr. James Nakola, Narok Peace Ambassador Mr. Joshua Ole Kaputa, Narok Women Office Representative Ms. Joyce Kipai, Chairman of the Narok County Youth Association Mr. John Kiok, Mr. Joshua Ole Kelele of the Peace Resilience Program, Ms. Maureen Sialo from the Kilgoris Youth Office, Madam Naeku from Elongo CBO, and other esteemed dignitaries.
