CS Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen Meets with the National Youth Council

The National Youth Council plays a critical role in mainstreaming the participation of the youth in the social, economic and political development of the country.
It is quite unfortunate that elections to the Council have not been held since 2012, a clear violation of the NYC Act which stipulates that polls are held every three years. The prolonged delay breaches the law and deprives the youth of their rightful voice in the national discourse and agenda.
Today, CS Murkomen held an inaugural meeting with the NYC team led by Acting CEO Margaret Kiogora. They briefed Mr. Murkomen on strategies they have put in place to revitalize the Council and ensure it effectively fulfills its mandate.
The CS directed the Council to ensure that free, fair and inclusive elections are conducted before the end of this year.
