The Secretary for Administration of the State Department for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy, Allan Machari, says the government is planning to roll out the National Youth Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme, which aims to transform youth talents into more productive skills and enable them to engage in self-employment.
โ€œThis is a program that will specifically identify the youths, mold their talents into more productive skills for them to be able to earn a livelihood,โ€ explained Machari, who represented the Youth Principal Secretary during the occasion held at Murangโ€™a University of Technology.
The programme, similar to the Kenya Youth Employment Opportunities Project (KYEOP), will empower young people with development and financial skills and fund their talents to enable them to start business ventures with ease.
Machari urged youths to have plans and identify their talents to benefit from the program.
The Ministry is currently working on a creative economy policy and bill, which will serve as the legal framework for regulating the creative sector, which is mainly dominated by youths.
Murangโ€™a deputy governor Stephen Munania noted that many youths miss out on government opportunities due to lack of information and communication issues between the national and county governments.
The CEO of the Youth Enterprise Fund, Josiah Moriasi, announced that graduates from Murangโ€™a Youth Service (MYS) will be financed with a loan of Sh100,000 to support and expand their businesses.
